The fireworks display was postponed due to the bad weather and will be shot off by the Muleshoe Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, July 8th, at dark in the West City Park. The Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce Parade Marshall was Kenneth Henry and Master of Ceremonies was Justin Morris. National Anthem was sung by Michelle Young and Cannon Air Force Base provided the color guard. Parade judges were Dennis Fleenor, Staci Burris, and Kade & Kasie Riddle. Parade Winners were 1st place Juanita Scolley Family, 2nd Muleshoe Heritage Foundation and 3rd was Templo El Buen Pastor. Bailey County Senior Citizens winner of the playhouse raffle was Scott Pollard, Bailey County Farm Bureau Yeti Cooler winner was Mike Franco, and the winner of the Muleshoe Lions Club gun giveaway was Trey Thompson. Enjoy the Lil’ Miss and Mr. Firecracker Pageant, Doze and Dash Bed Derby, entertainment by Chris Flores, Kennedy Young, Trinity Christian Center Band and much more!

See video of the severe thunderstorm that slammed Muleshoe, Texas, just after 11p.m. on June 25, 2017 with the NWS issuing Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and a Tornado Warning. At 11:25pm the Muleshoe Mesonet station clocked an 82 MPH wind gust. The NWS Station at Channel 6 received 2.34″ of rain and the Mesonet site got 1.94″.
See video of a pair of porcupines, a mother and baby, in a hackberry tree at our own Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge filmed on June 19, 2017. Specifically they are North American Porcupines and Christena Stephens, biologist with Friends of the Muleshoe NWR, thought the baby, also known as a porcupette, was born probably in April or May. The Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge is located 16 miles south of Muleshoe, Texas, along Highway 214.

A showing of “Racing Stripes” will be in the New City Park and the Muleshoe Girls Softball League will operate the concession stand again this year. 3. Youth Fishing Day will be Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Lake Muleshoe from 9a.m. to Noon. f. The Quarterly TML Region III meeting will be held in Lubbock on Thursday, June 29, 2017. g. The work on the west elevated storage tank is complete. Water samples have been submitted and the tank will be online in the near future. 5. Mayor and Council remarks.
Bob Stoops, head football coach at the University of Oklahoma, is retiring after 18 seasons in Norman and Muleshoe native Lincoln Riley is set to replace him according to news sources out of Oklahoma. Hear our July 27, 2015, phone interview with Lincoln Riley as he became the Oklahoma Sooners offensive coordinator. Lincoln is a 2002 graduate of Muleshoe High School and the son of Mike and Marilyn Riley and will assume the helm at one of the most powerful college football programs at the age of 33.
