Severe Thunderstorms Bring Heavy Rain and Hail to Muleshoe

See video of the severe thunderstorm that hit Muleshoe on May 9, 2017, with the heaviest hail and rain occurring after 10p.m. and then heavy rain just after midnight on May 10, 2017.  The NWS gauge at Channel 6 in Muleshoe got 3.44″, the Muleshoe Mesonet site received 3.78″ and the NWS Ave. K rain gauge measured 3.86″.

Consider Resolution R-729-0517 – Denial of SPS application to implement a proposed surcharge.  6. Consider Resolution R-730-0517 – Canvassing returns of the City Special Election held on May 6, 2017.  7. Elect Mayor Pro-Tem.  8. Receive Financial Statement for April 30, 2017.  9. Administrative Reports:  a. The Muleshoe Water Park will open for the 2017 season on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.   b. Progress continues at the City of Muleshoe Training Facility.  The project should be completed by mid-May.  c. Work continues on the West Elevated Storage Tank.  We expect work to be completed by June 1st.  d. Work is being performed at the basketball courts in the City Park.  The surface is being replaced with concrete.  e. Mark your calendars for Youth Fishing Day at Lake Muleshoe for Saturday, June 17th.  f. Our campaign continues to remove junk vehicles from the city.   Also, if anyone has weeds or grass exceeding 12 inches in heights, they are in violation of city ordinances and code enforcement will be contacting you.    10.  Mayor and Council Remarks.  11.  Budget Workshop.  12. See video of AimBank’s benefit cookout for Muleshoe Meals on Wheels held in their parking lot on May 5, 2017, at the crossroads in Muleshoe, Texas.   AimBank Muleshoe President Jay Messenger presented a check for $1,000 to Bailey County Office of the Aging Director Judy Coffman and Muleshoe Meals on Wheels Board Member Steve Friskup.  Dan Patterson from Farwell performed and his website can be found at: https://www.danpattersonmusic.com/  The event in total raised $4502 which is about enough money to feed all of the Muleshoe Meals on Wheels clients for one month.
