Honoring Pioneer Families on the 100th Anniversary of Muleshoe, Texas.  See our interview with Bobbie Harrison whose parents, Bill and Margaret Roach Collins, moved to Muleshoe in 1925.  Margaret’s parents, Carl and Bertha Roach, ran Hot Shots Cafe and then Bill and Margaret ran Bill’s Cafe, Muleshoe Cafe and Bill’s Drive-In.  When Bill and Margaret Collins retired in 1979 they ran the sixth oldest business in Muleshoe, Texas and in their 45 years had served five generations.  Gil Lamb Advertising’s pioneer interviews are being brought to you by the Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce, Randall Field, CPA and Bamert Seed Company.  See ads at first of video!  Interview was conducted on September 16, 2013.

Dedication of the National Mule Memorial 1965

Dedication of the National Mule Memorial in Muleshoe, Texas, on July 3, 1965.  Dedication speech was given by Wagoneer Carr, Texas Attorney General.  National Mule Memorial Association was President Gil Lamb, Vice-President Harmon Elliott, Secretary-Treasurer Robert Alford, Directors:  John Fried and John Crow and Honorary Members:  George Dolan, V.H. Torrance, Carroll Pouncey and Mrs. J.B. Barnett.    The model for the Mule Memorial was a Mule owned by Dave Anders named “Old Pete” and is pictured at the first of the video.  The sculptor was Kevin Wolf from Aurora, Colorado and the memorial was cast by the Fiberglass Menagerie in Alpine, California.  Kevin is pictured working on “Ole Pete” at the first of the video.
