Funeral service for Frances Stegall, 102 of Muleshoe, is 11a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church. Frances moved from McAdoo, Texas to Bailey County in 1922. She began writing at the age of 90, and published 9 books. She was a member of the Muleshoe Art Association and the First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe. Frances was devoted to caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cass in 1990, her parents, and a daughter, Lavon Stegall in 1983. Hear our interview with Bailey County Pioneer Jack Schuster conducted on February 4, 2014. Funeral service for Jack Schuster, 87 of Muleshoe, was held on July 9, 2014, at the First Baptist Church. Jack was a lifetime resident of the Muleshoe community. He farmed south of Muleshoe for over 70 years. He served on the Needmore Gin board for over 30 years; the Bailey County Farm Bureau board for 2 terms; the High Plains Research Foundation Board as a Lifetime Member; and was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church of Muleshoe. Jack received the Celebration of the Land Award for participation in the Great Plains Conservation Program in 1995 and the Outstanding Conservation Farmer Award in 1975. Jack talks about rural electrification in Bailey County, the paving of Highway 214 and the advances he has seen in farming over his lifetime.
